Terms of Use
These terms govern use of the Viaduct educational online card game at viaduct.club. By using the service, a player agrees to these terms.
Educational prerelease
Viaduct is an evolving educational card game. The prerelease may change, experience interruptions, contain defects, or temporarily lose a feature. We may maintain, update, limit, or suspend the service when reasonably necessary for security, reliability, testing, or improvement.
The initial general membership is intended to remain free when sustainable. Future optional offerings, such as special usernames, will have separate terms before they are introduced. Viaduct does not currently offer wagering, prizes, paid rankings, or tournament enforcement.
Eligibility and accounts
All players, including Guests, must be at least 13 years old. Registered players must provide accurate registration information and keep their password and email links secure. Guests may play under temporary names without creating a password-protected account.
A player may register more than one account where permitted, but may not use multiple identities or devices to observe hidden cards, control more than one seat in Regular Play, manipulate results, evade restrictions, or disrupt others. Multi-session play is allowed only in an expressly designated manual testing environment or with permission from Viaduct.
Usernames must follow the displayed naming rules. A username is not ownership of a trademark or other legal right. We may reject, reserve, rename, or remove a username that impersonates another person, violates rights, misleads players, is offensive, or conflicts with service policy.
A registered member may request account deletion through the monitored support route. After ownership verification, Viaduct will promptly disable the account and complete active-data deletion or anonymization within 30 days. Completed game records may be retained under Deleted Player, without the former member's username or account link, when needed to preserve the other players' results, prevent duplicate credit, protect security, or meet legal obligations. Protected backup copies expire through the normal backup cycle.
Fair and respectful play
Players must:
- follow the Viaduct game rules and server decisions;
- avoid collusion, hidden-card sharing, automation, exploits, and result
manipulation;
- avoid harassment, threats, discrimination, sexual content, impersonation,
spam, and attempts to obtain another player’s private information;
- avoid interfering with the service, accounts, networks, or security; and
- report serious safety or security problems privately instead of exploiting
or publicly exposing them.
Table chat is visible to all four seats at the same table and is available only while waiting and during completed-board review. It is hidden during bidding and card play; private or partnership-only messages are not available. Players must follow these terms and the Community and Safety Guidelines when using it. System and game-event messages are also part of normal play.
Game records and interruptions
The server is authoritative for auctions, card play, contracts, tricks, scores, seating, reconnect deadlines, and board assignment. A rejected action has no game effect.
Network interruptions can pause or abandon a board under the published game rules. Viaduct may correct or remove corrupted, duplicated, abusive, or test results when needed to preserve accurate records. VPR and Viaduct ranks are educational performance indicators; they are not official bridge ratings, credentials, prizes, or guarantees of skill.
Beginner robots are provided as an educational practice aid. They use only the cards and public information available to their assigned seats, but their bids and plays are intentionally introductory and may be imperfect.
Intellectual property
Viaduct’s software, game presentation, original artwork, text, and branding may be protected by copyright, trademark, or other rights. Players may use the service for personal, educational play. These terms do not grant permission to copy, sell, reverse engineer, or commercially reuse protected material except where applicable law or an open-source license expressly allows it.
Players must not submit material they do not have permission to use. Future photo or image uploads will require separate rules before that feature is enabled.
Enforcement
We may warn a player, restrict an action, remove content or results, suspend access, or close an account when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect players, or secure the service. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent loss of access. Where practical, a player may contact us to ask for review of an account action.
Disclaimers and responsibility
Viaduct is provided on an “as available” basis for educational and entertainment use. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, preservation of every game, or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, Viaduct and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use or inability to use the prerelease. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or responsibility that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Changes and governing details
We may update these terms as the service develops. Material changes will be announced in the service or by email when appropriate, and the effective date will be updated.
Viaduct is operated by Zhimin Lin, operating Viaduct Club in a personal capacity. Questions about these terms may be sent to support@viaduct.club. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Subject to applicable law, the governing venue is San Joaquin County, California. These terms should receive legal review before a broad public launch.
